I Am Not An Angel

November 8, 2013 | By

Plead you may, for I am not an angel,
Wishes are mere cry, what’s in it for the stone hearted

Shirin ka Qais se kya wasta

Dastan-e-fughaan hain, lab-e-khamosh par
Jhuki hui aankhon ka, falak se kya wasta,
Dastaan-e-Hijr hain,waqt ke dehleez par,
Laila ka Farhad se, Shirin ka Qais se kya wasta

A cry of pain escapes the silent lips,
Eyes lowered in pain seldom touch the sky,
Tales of separation are listed on time’s threshold
What does Laila have to do with Farhad or Shirin with Qais?

Main koi farishta nahin, karoon jo gaur tere fariyad par,
Sang ho chuke is dil ka, duaon se kya wasta,
Ashq baarho jaaye gar, kisi ke ruskhsat par,
Aankhon ka sukoonse kya wasta!

Plead you may, for I am not an angel,
Wishes are mere cry, what’s in it for the stone hearted
Filled with tears they are, when the beloved departs
What do the eyes have to do with contentment?

Kufr farmatey hain, ‘Kaafir’ aankhon ke behakney par,
Zard aankhon ka rangon se kya wasta
Fateha padhtey hain, intkaal farmaney par,
Sard ho chukey aadam ka, Ilaahi se kya wasta!

When the eye wavers, infidel they are
Colors hold no meaning, when eyes go pale
Prayers are said when a man is consigned to the dead,
What does a dead man have to do with god?
