A heartfelt tribute to the auspicious festival of lights, Deepavali or Diwali, and a plea to all of humanity to rekindle their inner lights.
The sky needs no stars tonight
No one misses the absent moon
The fireworks have done their bit
Yet some familiar corners, remain unlit
I see prayers offered
with folded hands and bolted hearts
Each heart, an island no lamp can reach
oceans have gobbled all its glow
The inner world hosts a ravenous demon
Its appetite- a merciless hollow
no firework, no festival,
no halo can seal.
So here is the naked deal
Show me a magic lamp
that melts the demonic hunger
with peerless photons of love
Show me
And I will believe in prayers again.
