Omar Ahmed (1 Post)

Omar Ahmed is a PhD Researcher at the University of Manchester. He was awarded funding by the AHRC in 2015 to investigate Indian Parallel Cinema. He is also a Film & Media Studies teacher, formerly Head of Film at Aquinas College, Manchester. He has been teaching Film and Media Studies for over 12 years and has a PGCE in Further Education and a BA in Film Studies. He completed his Masters at the University of Manchester, specialising in Indian Cinema. He published his first book Studying Indian Cinema (Auteur) in 2015 and has recently contributed several essays to The Directory of World Cinema: India (Intellect, 2015). Oorvazi Irani is a freelance film educationalist, acting trainer, filmmaker and director of her home production company SBI Impresario Pvt. Ltd., (incorporated in 1975). She has introduced the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique to India, she conducts courses on the technique and has created and produced the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique dvd, the first of its kind in India which is a step by step guide to the technique.

OP Srivastava is a career banker, having spent 35 years in public and private sector banks in India. He is known for his pioneering contribution to introducing technology to banking in India and for setting up the fastest and largest retail ‘ brick and click’ network for one of India’s leading private sector banks in India . Since his retirement, apart from consulting and writing, he makes documentary films. His first feature documentary, Life in Metaphors, won the National Award for Best Biopic in 2015. Since then, he has made films on brain cancer, Alzheimer’s and Yakshagana under the banner of his production house, Reelismfilms. In 2019, his first book, Life in Metaphors: Portraits of Girish Kasaravalli, was released. He also runs a not-for-profit initiative, ‘Oorjaa’, for making and propagating ‘Cinema for a cause’.
