Soumyadeep Chakrabarti has been a lifelong admirer of Indian classical music, Rabindra Sangeet and the works of Salil Chowdhury, a love nurtured by his father, Pradeep Kumar Chakrabarti, a sitarist and disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar, whose vast record collection shaped his early musical world. His mother, Rina Chakrabarti, a published writer of short stories, further deepened his appreciation for literature and the arts.
Professionally, Soumyadeep works in pharmaceutical sales promotion. Outside work, he is an ardent devotee of old-school cricket and a passionate admirer of the films of Satyajit Ray, Tapan Sinha and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Ever in search of all things bright and beautiful, he brings a keen, reflective sensibility to his writing on music and culture.
