Directed by Asit Sen, Mamta is an adaptation of Sen’s earlier Bengali hit Uttor Phalguni. In both the Bengali and Hindi versions, Suchitra Sen plays the double role of the mother and daughter.

It is a story of the eternal struggle of the mother to bring up her child in a safe and secure environment, far away from her own miserable existence, even if that means staying away from her for ever.

Silhouette Magazine is a platform for gathering myriad views on film (and allied art forms) and to continue with the flux of discourse. The Silhouette publications are our attempt to achieve this goal.
