Rajesh Khanna had formed his own distribution company with Shakti Samanta. In Singapore they met Tansri Runme Shaw of Shaw films. Shaw took up Bawarchi to be released in Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei. Most of the 70s films were distributed abroad by Shaw films. Rajesh Khanna fans in Singapore were delighted that he came there.
