Zareena Wahab and Amol Palekar in Chitchor

The mystical countryside, the innocuous romance of a naïve and childish village-bred girl with a visiting engineer who is mistakenly believed to be a good match for the girl, their music sessions and walks in the woods – Chitchor is a hallmark Basu Chatteji film that thrives on celebrating the beauty in simplicity.

Tu jo mere sur mein is a beautiful Yesudas-Hemlata duet in Chitchor. Ravindra Jain scored the music for this film.

This picture is part of the film memorabilia on display at the exhibition on Basu Chatterji’s films titled ‘Basu Chatterji, A Manzil of Memories’, organised by Sensorium and Weavers Studio Centre for the Arts in Kolkata.
