Ishwar Ram Dulal Deb started this Puja in 1770. The idol (which is always stammeringly beautiful) is of traditional ‘Ekchala’ (single panel) and the chalchitra (painted background of the Idol)’, is in ‘Motchauri’ form.
There is face of horse on the body of lion. Goddess Laxmi and Saraswati are worshipped here as Jaya-Bijaya, who were Ma Durga’s “Sakhis”.
The ‘Thakur dalan’ and the altar are still made by clay.
