Marathi Translation of White Nights (For Fyodor Dostoevsky)

December 2, 2020 | By

Ampat Koshy’s poem White Nights translated into Marathi by Gorakhnath Gangane. The poem is from the Amazon Bestseller book Vodka by the Volga: A Duo of Duelling Dulcimers & Daggers written by Ampat Koshy and Santosh Bakaya.

Marathi translation (c) Gorakhnath Gangane
Original Poem (c) Dr. Ampat Koshy

White Nights (For Fyodor Dostoevsky)

Those are windows, not eyes
Let’s finish the absinthe
Come, my love, sit on my lap
Let me kiss your blue lips

White nights, fair thighs
Watch the stars die one by one
The moon, in your eyes, drown
The dark give way to the sun

Do not listen to lies
We do not love to win or gain,
Or write for success
But for loss

Failure is our heat and light
Let me kiss your black eyes
My pen dipped in black ink
No ruse, but spells and magic.
