Dervish

Through the flickering white of semi-closed lids,
I glimpsed, the journey of a man becoming a child again.

With bold lead,
I traced the details of every ritual,
giving an outline to our relationship.

I diligently recited the words
as revealed and bound.

Soon the words broke their prescribed columns,
till few notes and human breath
oriented them again.

Unbound they flourished into a song;
filling me to the brim.

With my head thrown back in defiance,
I swirled, as my feet skimmed the parched earth,
while the stretched hands carved my legacy in thin air.

Through the flickering white of semi-closed lids,
I glimpsed,
the journey of a man becoming a child again.
