The two missionaries, St. Cyril and Methodius created an alphabet based on Slavic sounds and modeled in form after Greek letters. Glagolitic eventually became a widely and frequently used script for ecclesiastical texts and was adapted to an angular, geometric form, called Croatian script, by the 12th century.
