Earthquake In Kathmandu

May 18, 2015 | By

A seething, haunting poem about the recent earthquake disaster in Nepal that shook Mother Earth and her inhabitants profoundly.

earthquake

gods just change a meandering course
and an avalanche does the gory rest

The gods were not angry
why should they?
we transgressed mortal remains
we are not angry
we suffer from plenty
gods just change a meandering course
and an avalanche does the gory rest
We will talk about it
Walk with it
We will write (may not weep)
and our prognostications may suffer
because who knows where?
Don’t blame the gods, blame a cosmic divine
seeing, hearing believing.
Cup your hands prayerfully.
And wipe salt from tears!
