Lake Palace (formerly known as Jag Niwas or Lake Garden Palace) is a luxury hotel, a Taj property featuring white marble walls, located on a natural foundation of a rock on the Jag Niwas island in Pichhola Lake.
Jag Niwas, now Lake Palace Hotel, was built by Maharana Jagat Singh II of Udaipur, as a royal summer palace. The successive rulers used this cool haven as their summer resort, holding their regal durbars in its courtyards lined with aesthetically designed columns, vast pillared terraces, beautiful fountains and splendid gardens.
