Jag Niwas, now Lake Palace Hotel, was built by Maharana Jagat Singh II of Udaipur, as a royal summer palace. The successive rulers used this cool haven as their summer resort, holding their regal durbars in its courtyards lined with aesthetically designed columns, vast pillared terraces, beautiful fountains and splendid gardens.
