A wistful ode to spring and its all encompassing beauty by Udayaditya Mukherjee.
In the vacant avenues of my neighbourhood the flowers waited to blossom,
While the new leaves in my garden swayed with breezy rhythm,
You came so I realised the heart does murmur to flutters
Of colourful wings over the mulberry bushes rousing desires.
When I walked in a languid trance, soaked in the golden fervour,
That the sun’s soft radiance poured around to pamper,
Basked in your warmth layered in air and on all the scape,
Buoyant I strolled, leaving behind trails of wintry reminisces.
Hearing the first coo of the cuckoo from a shady nook far off,
Stumbling upon the partridge chirping loudly making me stop,
Before again ambling around the sprightly pansy beds,
Purple carpets laid on greenish grassy meads.
The frozen stream of yore that started tumbling again,
Cascading in sparkling green cackling stories from the heaven,
Distant where the snowy peaks kiss the firmament,
Did I hear the angels croon in new season’s merriment?
In a puddle water lilies beckoned me to marvel,
At scenes such serene which imaginations even fail.
With all colours and fragrance you arrived in zest,
Would you carry me along oh Spring in your sweet embrace!
