But unfortunately, the film had to be reshot after Guru Dutt passed away and Dharmendra stepped in for the original hero Guru Dutt and Shahid Lateef took up the director\u2019s megaphone.<\/p>\n<p>The film had several hit songs including:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Koi keh de keh de keh de zamane se jaake<\/em><\/strong> (Aziz Kashmiri \/ Asha)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dil to pehle hi se madhosh hai matwala hai<\/em><\/strong> (Shewan Rizvi \/ Mohd Rafi\u00a0and Asha Bhosle)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Badal jaaye agar maali<\/em><\/strong> (title song by Mahendra Kapoor written by Kaifi Azmi)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MwpaXBguDlw\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Johny Walker had his own way of romancing his lady love. This song gives you a great tour of Calcutta complete with cycling around the Victoria Memorial and romance in the tram.<\/p>\n<p>The lyrics leave you laughing:<br \/>\n<em>Ban thhan ke yun kahaan chali ho fifty ki raftaar se<br \/>\ndil wala koi kood na jaaye chalti motor car se<br \/>\nchalte chalte padhti jao dil ka open letter ji<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Suno suno Miss Chatterji, mere dil ka matter ji<\/em><\/strong> (Anjaan \/ Mohd Rafi\u00a0and Asha Bhosle)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lauAr3hjKpY\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Aapke haseen rukh pe aaj naya noor hai<\/em> remains the most popular song from the film, an evergreen hit. I have had the fortune of seeing the original clip of this beautiful song, starring Guru Dutt, in a documentary.\u00a0 Of course, the two heroes are not comparable and each had his own unique style.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Aap ke haseen rukh pe aaj naya noor hai<\/em><\/strong> (Anjaan \/ Rafi)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GQblX2TmEZI\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>Sawan Ki Ghata<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>After <em>Kashmir Ki Kali,<\/em> OP Nayyar and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/learningandcreativity.com\/silhouette\/shakti-samanta-interview\/\">Shakti Samanta<\/a><\/strong><\/span> came up with another winning score in <em>Sawan Ki Ghata<\/em>. Almost all songs were hits and remain popular till today. The lyrics were by S H Bihari.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Hothon pe hasi ankhon mein nasha, pehchan hai mere dilbar ki <\/em><\/strong>(Rafi-Asha)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Zulfon ko hata le chehre se, thoda sa ujala hone do<\/em><\/strong> (a leisurely romantic song by Rafi)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FUBJDxWU0v4\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Meri jaan tumpe sadke, ehsaan itna kar do<\/em><\/strong> (a beautiful tandem by Mahendra Kapoor and Asha Bhosle)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PQ_Wn09hjIQ\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Haule haule chalo more sajana, hum bhi peeche hain tumhare<\/em><\/strong> (the peppy tonga song by Asha, a speciality of OPN)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/832PCXbQ37g\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>Mohabbat Zindagi Hai<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>Mohabbat Zindagi Hai<\/em>, directed by Jagdish Narula for producer K C Gulati, and was shot at Jharia Coal mines around Dhanbad by cinematographer V Ratra. Ratra was known as a Navketan\/Dev Anand photographer and next time that Ratra visited the coal mines was in 1971 for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/learningandcreativity.com\/silhouette\/vijay-anand-interview\/\">Vijay Anand<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u2019s <em>Tere Mere Sapne<\/em>. Some very beautiful songs were composed by Nayyar for this film, lyrics by S H Bihari.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Na janee kyun humare dil ko tumne dil nahin samjha<\/em><\/strong> (Rafi)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tum sab se hasin ho, aur sab se jawan ho<\/em><\/strong> (Asha \/ Mahendra Kapoor)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Raaton ko chori chori bole mora kangana<\/em><\/strong> (Asha)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zBiMLZhPT2Q\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Brij Sadanah\u2019s <em>Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi<\/em> delivered one of the top scores of the year. Several songs from the film were hits including,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Har tukda mere dil ka deta hai duhai, dil toot gaya aapko awaz na aayi<\/em><\/strong> (Aziz Kashmiri \/ Asha)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Main shayad tumhare liye ajnabi hoon magar chand taare mujhe jante hain<\/em><\/strong> (S H Bihari \/ Asha)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Mera pyar wo hai ke mar kar bhi tumko juda apni bahon se <\/em><\/strong>(S H Bihari \/ Mahendra Kapoor)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w-_DzUpe0E0\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In terms of nostalgic songs, this love song tops among songs that express the anguish of a lover trying to make her beloved remember their forgotten romance. Asha Bhosle\u2019s expressive singing coupled with a delightfully sweet melody and lovely lyrics made this song become synonymous with romantic recollection.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Yahi woh jagah hai, yahi wo fizayen, yahin par kabhi aap humse mile the<\/em><\/strong> (S H Bihari \/ Asha)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lUWbc5MaTI0\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Electrifying dance numbers featuring two gorgeous female dancers are a genre of their own in Hindi films. Who can forget the Sai-Subbulaxmi sisters in <em>Aplam chaplam<\/em> or Ragini and Padmini in <em>Tu hai mera prem devata<\/em> or several other such dance jugalbandis, several of them classical dances.<\/p>\n<p>But among the very few dance duels picturised as club songs <em>Huzurewala, jo ho ijazzat to hum ye saare jahan se keh dein <\/em>between Helen and Madhumati with Manohar Deepak is surely one of the best known. The song gets a sensational start with the Spanish guitar and the saxophone and the verve-laden voices of Asha Bhosle and Meenu Purushottam perfectly match the energy of the dancers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Huzurewala, jo ho ijazzat to hum ye saare jahan se keh dein<\/em><\/strong> (Aziz Kashmiri \/ Asha Bhosle and Meenu Purushottam)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-6ym4uOOtEo\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>But the one song from <em>Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi<\/em> closest to my heart is <em>Phir miloge kabhi is baat ka vaada kar lo <\/em>with Rafi\u2019s magical singing and excellent accompaniment by Asha.\u00a0 S H Bihari\u2019s pure romance lyrics and a melody perfected by the king of romance and rhythm, OPN made this one of the most romantic songs ever.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Phir miloge kabhi is baat ka vaada kar lo<\/em> <\/strong><u>(<\/u>S H Bihari \/Rafi-Asha)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6gQ0t38DjkI\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The films that did not fare well were <em>Akalmand. Do Dilon Ki Dastan<\/em> and <em>Love &amp; Murder.<\/em> Although <em>Akalmand<\/em> did not do well at the box-office, OP Nayyar tried a rare combination of singers in <em>O bekhabar tujhe kya pata<\/em> with Bhupendra, Mahendra Kapoor and G M Durrani.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Akalmand<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If we look back to this album where all lyrics were written by Aziz Kashmiri, we find a handful of songs that have survived and are known even today:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Diya hai aapne bada haseen sahara<\/em><\/strong> (Kishore)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Khubsoorat saathi, itni baat bata, kitna pyar hai dil mein tere<\/em><\/strong> (Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Do Akalmand, huye fikarmand<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; the title track (Kishore Kumar and Mohd Rafi)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yY1ClTZAAsM\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Do Dilon ki Dastan<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>Do Dilon ki Dastan,<\/em> produced and directed by actor Pradeep Kumar was a washout as a film and so was its music.<\/p>\n<p>Vyjayanthimala was his heroine here. Nayyar\u00a0did create some nice, chirpy songs such as the two\u00a0Asha-Rafi duets &#8211; <em>Milti hai agar nazron se nazar sharmate ho kyun, aji aine kaha<\/em> and <em>Aji pehli mulaqat mein nahin pyar jataya karte<\/em> and the Asha solo <em>Yeh machalta sama aa meri jaane jaan<\/em>. The lyrics of these three songs were by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>Love and Murder<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Adarshlok&#8217;s <em>Love and Murder<\/em> was a Raja\u00a0Paranjpe direction.
