Learning and Creativity presents a series of portraits done in poster paints and water by artist Saurabh Turakhia. Saurabh’s portraits have been featured in prestigious magazines, including the cover of HT Brunch.
The first portrait in the series is of legendary poet-lyricist-author-filmmaker Gulzar.
Why I Paint
I am merely replicating as of now and would not consider myself to be a true artist. I work with poster paints and water and have also explored the pen medium. Art continues to intrigue me and over the years, I have seen it connect with me at various levels.
Even if I am not painting or sketching something, I like to read about artists and how they contributed to a better world. I like to read about the depth in their lives, how they battled odds in a commerce-dominated world and somehow got themselves immortalised by staying dedicated to their craft.
I paint only in my free time and work full time to make two ends meet but my passion for art is definitely high and I will continue to explore it in different ways. Till now, mostly portraits have excited me but I have recently also explored other forms. I am happy to see my works featured on this esteemed platform.
