Writers, poets and wordsmiths…! Contribute your poems for our special month in ‘Learning and Creativity’, dedicated to the National Poetry Month April 2015.
Since 1996, the United States wholeheartedly celebrates the National Poetry Month in April, initiated by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry. While the celebration of poetry in the month of April has grown in leaps and bounds in the nation every year, it has also been a universal gesture to facilitate poetry and the creative mind where poets, writers, publishers and literary organizations have come together to enrich the language and the vision surrounding poetry. Today, in the wake of technology and social media, the celebration of the National Poetry Month has spread across continents and nations as poets and scribes from all parts of the world unite to read, write and embrace the art form in all its fluidity and grace. In fact, a look into the various writing prompts and poetry events flooding the various poetry and creative writers’ groups in Facebook, all named after the National Poetry Month, will confirm that the poetry bug has bitten a sea of poetry lovers from all parts of the world.
We, the Editors of Learning & Creativity also sincerely believe that poetry is the universal language of the creative, sensitive, empathetic souls. It is through the sunshine of poetry that we learn to appreciate and nurture the bounty of creation, the humane and redeeming aspects of our community, our world, and our surroundings. It is poetry that lets us soak our greatest pleasures and pain, learning to string their petals together for posterity. Throughout this month, we would urge our friends, followers and the greater community of writers, poets and wordsmiths to contribute their poems to us for our special month in ‘Learning and Creativity’ dedicated to the National Poetry Month. We are not seeking any particular theme for your poems, but would expect to see a potpourri of your emotions and creativity reflected in your poetry submissions.
Do mail your submissions along with a brief bio and pic to editor@learningandcreativity.com
