A passionate account of a poet’s quest to find the lady-love of her dreams.

at the sight
of its intricately marked petals that looked like a fruit

Dawn.
The sky,
streaked with pink
& she, by the pool
on the steps
with her handmaidens;
face streaked with tears.
He passed by, unobserved.

Lifetimes spent in searching
searching for that face
never seen again
or seen only in dreams,
till one day he saw a flower;
felt it was alive
Love spilled out
from the core of his being
at the sight
of its intricately marked petals that looked like a fruit

& those love-inducing tears…

In that magic spell
he lived, beneath that tree
waiting for wind or rain
to shower it down on him,
to bring him love’s blessings…

Some day, it would be…
