Holi is the time of celebration and festivities and one aroma that is closely associated with Holi<\/em> is of puran poli<\/em> being prepared in homes. Puran poli is also known as naivedya (prasad) of Holi<\/em>.<\/p>\n So here we bring a quick holi recipe for making puran poli. Do serve it piping hot and with ghee to enjoy it. Preparation Time: 10 minutes Ingredients<\/p>\n For The Filling<\/strong> For The Dough<\/strong> For Serving<\/strong> Method<\/strong> 1. Combine the cooked chana dal and sugar in a broad non-stick pan and cook on a medium flame for 5 to 7 minutes till the sugar melts completely, while stirring continuously. For the dough<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Combine the whole wheat flour and ghee in a bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water. How to proceed<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Roll out a portion of the dough into an oblong shape roti of 100 mm. (4″) using a little whole wheat flour.

\nCooking Time: 15 minutes
\nMakes 4 puran poli<\/p>\n
\n1 cup soaked and cooked chana dal (split bengal gram)
\n1\/3 cup sugar
\n1\/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
\na pinch nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
\na few drops saffron colour<\/p>\n
\n1 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
\n1\/2 tbsp ghee
\nother ingredients
\nwhole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling
\nghee for smearing<\/p>\n

\nFor the filling<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n2. Transfer the mixture to a plate and allow it to cool completely.
\n3. Add the cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and saffron colour and mix well.
\n4. Divide the stuffing into 4 equal portions and keep aside.<\/p>\n
\n2. Cover the dough with a muslin cloth and allow it to rest for atleast 30 minutes.

\n2. Place a portion of the filling on one end of the roti and fold the other end over it. Gently press the sides to seal the filling.
\n3. Trim the sides using a sharp small bowl and discard the trimmed sides.
\n4. Gently press it from the centre and roll it into a 125 mm. (5″) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour.
\n5. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook it till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
\n6. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more puran polis.
\n7. Just before serving reheat the puran polis and smear a little ghee on each puran poli.
