Love is a Many Splendored Thing
Set in 1949–50 in Hong Kong, this is an unusual romance between a married, but separated, American reporter Mark Elliot (played by William Holden) and a Eurasian doctor Han Suyin originally from China (played by Jennifer Jones). The relationship puts Han Suyin in a difficult position with her family and the Hong Kong society. Against the backdrop of China’s Civil War in the late 1940s, the two find strength in their love despite Suyin’s ostracization by greater Chinese community.
